Is that easy to find? What are the benefits to the soap? >> A few weeks ago one of our stores had macadamia nut oil on sale for $5.99/17 oz bottle. I posted on one the lists asking about using this in soap. Someone said, GO for it. So I did!! I bought two bottles and then looked at some basic recipes and decided to substitute the macadamia for olive oil since it seems they have similar properties. (Both moisturize) At the Vegetable oil site I learned that the macadamia is a stable oil and is used in cosmetics. Because of the high cost, many soapmakers would use it for superfatting. My first batch has about another week of cure time, so I can't tell you yet how it is. The nice thing about this oil (I'm assuming) is that when I mixed the water/lye into the oils the mixture turned a dusty rose color, without any coloring!! I did nothing more to the first batch, no color, no scent. It is a light pink - truly naturally!! As soon as I've used the soap, I'll post how it is and may even impart the recipe! It was a small batch and I've changed it somewhat, but the second batch is still a pale pink, with colored swirls! HTH a Rogpashea@...
