One out of ten ain't bad, I suppose! I do have probable L4 nerve impingement as well, so the problem is really a double one. The Lyrica is to help alleviate the L4 pain by interfering with the pain signals from the area.I was on Gabapentin but it didn't help. I will also be getting a nerve conduction study done. For the loose screw I will be getting a 3D CT scan and a bone growth stimulator - replacement of the screw will be last resort if needed. Unfortunately I am having to fight with my insurance company for the Lyrica (no surprise) and my tests and bone growth stimulator don't happen until November 29th. Ouch! The wheels of medical care grind slowly - - -Could you take oral prednisone to keep the swelling and pain down ? It would help the L 4 impingement also.needs to reduces as when you walk, you probably shear you sacarl iliac (I have SI syndrome and it happens with this also) At least you would have something working on an inflammarory process I would also call back and state you are concerned with furthur damage to your surgery (since it was so recent and the healing process is setting in and seems if changes need to be made, they should be quickly ) This just doesn't sound right ! Your screws might be lose but let's let you start scarring her and whoops, we are going to have to operate, four weeks, a month, later ? Can't you call the Quality Assurance, (Total Quality Management), or Patient Advocate and pose the question that this a concern to you and you would appreciate appointments be made on an urgent bassis as the problem is affecting a medical decision to do corrective surgery and the correction could be the fault of the surgeon. Works every time. I was put off like this before and the stress it causes why you wait for a desicion and waiting around is not condusive to your health. You will probably have a small correction or maybe none but wouldn't it better protocol to do tests ASAP and correct the problem. Guest guest
I am blown away at how well Lyrica is working to reduce my pain. The side effects apparently are quite rare. I'm glad Lyrica is working for you Ellen. I hope it continues to give you relief from your pain with little in the way of side effects. I was only on Lyrica for three days when I had to stop taking it. I was shaky, had very dry eyes, and felt like a little kid who had spent too much time spinning in circles. It was horrid. Guest guest
I've heard the side effects can be intense. I took Dramamine for the first few days. I did the same for Cymbalta til i got used to it. Now, I'm on week 2 of Lyrica, and just had the dose increased. Day 2, good so far. It was given to me to interrupt migraine cycle. It is also helping to alleviate pain in other areas of my back. Ellen Lyndi wrote: I was only on Lyrica for three days when I had to stop taking it. I guess I got lucky. /NY
