Hi Becky,

Every afternoon I lay down and prop my foot up on a chair while listening to an

audio book. Sometimes I'll even drift off for a little nap. I was very fortunate

in that I was diagnosed quickly after the second surgery and began PT soon

after. Unfortunately, PT couldn't really do anything for me. My PT was very

knowledgeable about RSD and we worked together for a couple of months before

realizing that we wouldn't make progress because of the deformity on top of the

RSD. My PT had worked with someone with RSD in her foot who went into remission

and was back to jogging and running on the treadmill!! What a great success

story. However, my PT said that he'd never seen anyone with RSD who was as bad

off as me. So, I do regular exercises every single day for 30 minutes while

laying on the floor and this helps me keep some flexibility and ROM which is

very important. With RSD it's important to use the affected limb as you're able

without overdoing it.

It saddens me whenever I hear of someone who has full body RSD. That must be

very difficult. It sounds like you've found ways to manage the pain with meds

and through meditation and breathing. In my experience, anyone with chronic pain

must also manage stress in their lives as you've mentioned.

How long have you had RSD? You sound like someone who has long come to terms

with your chronic pain and knows how to keep positive influences in your life.

That's so awesome.

Hugs,

Carol

When my RSD first began, long before I knew what was going on and causing pain

in my lower neck/upper back, it spread to my left pinkie. It spread to the

rest

of my body from there over a short time.
