I didn't lose a single pound after the first four weeks....not a half pound, quarter pound, nothing. It is true I don't have a lot to lose, but I would like to lose another 15 lbs. and I was not succeeding. Perhaps I was just not patient enough, but I attribute this stall to my body adjusting to my new eating habits. So far, that seems to be true. I have lost 2 more pounds by starting the diet at our YMCA. On the 15th, I will switch back to Atkins and follow induction for two weeks. Dr. A. does talk about switching from his plan to another way of eating. (Just be sure you have a set plan and don't just go back to old eating habits.) I didn't give this much thought though until our Y started this new program. Now I have 2 programs I can follow and enjoy! ) Marilyn
Guest guest
plan to switch plans every couple of weeks so my body doesn't get used to just one way of eating, and hopefully that will keep me from stalling again. I think this point is VERY important, and is not discussed at all. Perhaps we can begin a thread? How, or where , did you think of this? I don't think even the good Doctor mentions it. For my body weight I should have 1200 calories a day. (The amount goes up with your weight, but I don't have my folder in front of me.). For every 5 grams of carbs you should have 1 protein, but I'm eating more protein, less carbs. They recommend drinking 0.6 oz. of water for every pound you weigh....I know most of us have been drinking lots of water already. They also recommend staying away from sugars and fats. Soooo, for me it is a low-fat version of the Atkins Diet. Now, I thought this would be hard, but I found if I double my carb intake I can drop my fat intake. I eat six mini meals....some examples of things I eat are as follows: celery stalk with 1 oz. cream cheese, 1/2 apple with 1 T. peanut butter, dry SF Jello mixed with cottage cheese (1/2 cup), 4 oz. to 6 oz. of meat at a time, 1 oz. mozzarella string cheese, 1/2 cup creamy faux potatoes (made with cauliflower), salad with 1/2 T. oil and 2 T. red wine vinegar, so I've still been eating lots of yummy food. I try to keep each meal around 200 calories, so I have reached 1200 by the end of the day. We meet every Tuesday, so that will be my weigh in and measurement day. I didn't get weighed until Friday of last week, so this weeks weigh in won't be a full week, but as of last Friday I lost 2 lbs., so I may not see a drop tomorrow. I also had my body fat analyzed when I weighed. I have never wanted to do this before, but I was shocked to find out it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. I should have a body fat percentage of 23% and mine was 26%. Even if I do not lose those last 15 pounds I hope that at least my BF percentage will decrease and muscle will take its place!!! ) Hope everyone is having a great holiday! Guest guest
Marilyn, I thought the Y diet sounds good, everytime I have gone off this WOL I just pig out and then go back on. I haven't even thought about following a plan!! I guess that is my main problem. I want to have my cake and eat it too so to speak! I think my next time I go off I might do the Y diet, let me know how it goes! Good Luck Penny
Guest guest
Most of you may remember that I went off this WOE during my birthday celebrating. I was off for 5 days. I didn't go crazy with carbs but I had several desserts and breads. I started back on the induction last Wednesday. This morning when I measured I had lost 3.5 more inches in 6 days! My weight is not going down but I see the toning on my body. I power walk for 30 minutes every other day and do toning and stretching exercises. Marilyn, what is the diet that the Y recommends?
