Guest guest
Hi and all: Out of respect to this group, I'll keep my comments brief, but I've had gout attacks since I turned 50 ten years ago. Although they are reported to be more rare in women, I had a woman tell me once after a particularly severe attack that she would rather have another child without pain blocks than have another gout attack. I'm particularly sensitive at the moment to the subject because although I don't get them as often as I used to, and due to a lot of research I've done on the subject, I began my most recent gout attack in my right elbow on Christmas Day, when I was set to board a plane to spend the holidays with my family. Over the course of the past 20 days, the pain migrated down into my wrist and is finally fading. Here's what I can tell you, your situation is due to your body's inability to rid itself of excess uric acid - why is specific to your system and NOT necessarily due to diet. It took me a couple of years to figure that one out. It doesn't matter what I eat or drink, what will trigger a gout attack in me is simply STRESS. I learned that if I take Indomethecin when I first feel pain in a joint, I can often ward off two to three weeks of severe pain. Check with your doctor to see what may work best for you. During the height of my last attack ( with minimal pain medicine available ) I remarked that I would not wish this on my worst enemy. Don't let anyone play down the pain aspect, it can be and unfortunately often is, excruciating. If you doctor recommends a medicine to help your body rid itself of excess uric acid, take it! Good Luck, Keavan > X wrote: >I have had a really bad pain in my big toe joint and I have a job to move it. It doesn't matter what medication I take it never goes away and no one has ever told me what it is. do you think it might be gout. My toe is so painful I can't even touch it, and it swells up also.
