Pain, in a very uncomfortable place

First I want to thank everyone who has offered tips and suggestions on how to

handle my current problem.

Next I want to apologize to those who have pain in what must be

worse places ( i.e. cancer ).

With regards to attempting to put the hemorrhoids back in their place; Why

didn't the doctor at the quick care do this? He is the

one who strongly recommended I make an appt. as soon as possible

with a Gastroentrologist. Unfortunately since I don't have medical insurance at

the moment, I haven't been able to do this.

Friday I faxed my primary care physician of the last 8 years a request for a

referral to a colo-rectal specialist. I believe my hemorrhoids are inflamed,

thus the reason the quick care Dr. gave

me Anucort suppositories.

No matter what I do, they melt and drip out but for the short time they do stay

in while I lay on my stomach, the pain does subside.

The only real relief I get is sitting in the sitz baths. Having a BM makes

everything worse and this may be the reason the quick care Dr. told me to see

the Gastroentrologist and put me on a high protein, low residue diet. This I've

been on for the past week and I believe has helped.

The most distressing part of the ordeal, besides the often excruciating and

sometimes stabbing pain is trying to live a normal life ( i.e. shopping, eating

out, etc. ) I don't know how many slacks I've ruined because of the bleeding but

mentally it causes you to shrink from being in public and makes you schedule

everything outside the home around your condition.

My plan now is to get in to see a colo-rectal specialist as soon as possible and

have him remove them by rubber band or injection. I don't think these are going

to just go away over time.

I really appreciate everyone's sentiments and will keep all posted in the hope

that I can help someone else from having the go through anything like this any

longer than is absolutely necessary.
