Guest guest
Hi and welcome Tim. I am surprised that they told you that the yoga is making things worse. I have been doing over 20 years and think it has helped me. but I am sure there are incidents were is it counter-indicted. I have had the EMG test done several times. I feel for you! It is an extremely painful test. Sometimes pain can be deferred. In other words you feel it away the actual site of the problem. It is because the 2 parts of the nervous system cross each other in parts of the body so the signal seems to come from a different site. I hope you are able to start a more comprehensive treatment program than it sounds like you have had. Does heat or cold reduce the pain? I find that heat really helps me. But cold intensifies the pain. I have heard from others that they have the opposite effect. Gentle hugs, Tami > Tim wrote: > I've been trying to get help since March, a problem for years. Currently at a hospital outpatient physical rehab place a PT (physical therapist) JUST NOW told me my lower back is too lose and too weak. The yoga I told everyone I was doing was doing the harm. Currently at a hospital outpatient physical rehab place a PT (physical therapist) JUST NOW told me my lower back is too lose and too weak. The yoga I told everyone I was doing was doing the harm. All, I think as with my physical therapist, the hypermobility has to be controlled and that is why the myofascial release exercises developed specifically for my condition helped me. Heat cause increased blood circulation, ice constricts it so dependent on the problem you have , the difference of treatment. That is why I think they get you to rotate them and ice is to reduce the swelling on immediate injuries etc, then heat later. I always get the Physical Therapists to explain where and why. My current physical therapist goes over the degrees of hypermobility etc and my treatment plan and progress. If they can't explain why, I would wonder the rationale. Weak in the muscles is usually what they talk about or they should say your vertebrae are limited in their range, the narrowing or something more that would be specific. Weak in back covers a large range of syndromes. Bennie
