Constipation and Caffeine (NMR)

What an interesting thought. My grandson suffers from ADHD, and has terrible problems with constipation. He has been on Ritalin, Adderal and now on Metadate. All of them brainstem stimulants. I wonder if a good dose of liquid caffeine (will mountain dew work as well?) would help with his constipation. He gets impacted easily. I've had docs order it for my patients with hypotension (low B/P) - 3 cups of strong black coffee first thing in a.m. Had never heard of using it for this purpose before. Willing to suggest it to my daughter, though.

Thanks and Smurffy.

Carolyn,

Best of luck to your daughter...Mountain dew might work, but unsure

because of all the extra sugars..what about making choc. milk and

mixing in a few tablespoons of the coffe to mask the flavor (kids

react much more to coffee then us old folk (so says the 21 yr old,

lol)...you reminded me of something with my coffee method...this

works best if you do it first thing in the morning when you are first

waking up. I have tried it later in the day, and it takes a lot

longer to work.

Happy drinking,
