Hi Desert,

I have severe nightmares too, from PTSD. My psychiatrist put me on a

medication called Prazosin, which is often used to treat nightmares. I am on a

middle-range dose of 4mg at bedtime, and it REALLY helps a LOT. I have virtually

NO nightmares anymore, whereas I used to have several very disturbing and

terrifying nightmares every single night.

Prazosin is a blood pressure medication, so it may be contraindicated in you if

you have low blood pressure. I think there are one or two other medications that

are used to treat nightmares that are not BP meds.

I would definitely ask your doctor about medications for nightmares. Perhaps

(s)he can put you on something that will help.

Take care, and I hope you find the relief you need and deserve,

Amethyst crystal in your pillow does help nightmares, mine are mostly from side

affects of meds that i cannot come off of. I too have P.TS.D.as well. A short

comment can be put this way: My son died 13 days after my grandmother, I found

my dad dead, among other things. You see, my son did not just die I had to

choose to remove the life support. The hardest choice I ever made in my

lifetime. It was the only way of Liberty and/or freedom for my little J.D.

( , named after my little brother Doug, however means, one who

heals. Names of meanings of those names always meant a lot to me, always have.

He died at 2 1/2 months old. I lived at that hospital. My own mother tried to

get me to abandon my son. I said are you crazy? What? You want me to tell myself

he does not belong to me or that I am not really his mother? I could NEVER do

that. It hurts me deeply that you could do that. My eyes have been opened to a

reality I never wanted to witness. But I have witnessed this with great hurt of

my heart. He will not be swiped under a rug or pretended he never existed. He is

my first son! Even more than that Mother, he is the first boy born into this

family. He deserves every chance he can get.

I found a baby picture of me when I was ten days old, looked exactly like

me then. So yet another connection to him. I have seen his transparent body

several times since his heath which was witnessed with many healing tears. His

older sister not by much, (which means one who follows Christ) Marie

Kaiser was 15 months older than J. D. She is fine, married with five children of

her own. She lives many many miles from here. So there are one grandchild I have

never met.

If Nightmares are a problem for you, there are many things you can do to get

help. Ask your doctor about biofeedback, that can often give you the tools to

help yourself. Also, look up " lucid dreaming " , it's a way to help you take

control of a dream and change it to what YOU want. There are medications that

can help you, but you can also try a " sound box " that gives you certain,

repeating sounds that relax you. There are also several free MP3 meditations

that help you relax and enter into a specific type of sleep.

I don't use anything in my pillow, but I do use a bath product I get at Bath

Junkie that has lavender in it, which helps relax me. Some people put lavender

scent on their pillow and say it helps.

Marta,

I would be interested in getting some of those mp3's of music you spoke of.

Lavender is a wonderful natural scent for me. I love the warm scents also. Not

too flowery or spicy but earthy.

The more I read about medications and the long term after affects, the more I

wonder if any of my ailments are due to medications that I didn't have good

reactions to.

Thankfully I'm not one to trust pharmaceuticals but I love herbs and there's

thousands of years of usage and comments to go along with them.

Hope the best for you all,

Jennette
