Guest guest
I have been in hospital like everyone else. Iknow the last 3 times when I was in for almost 1 month all 3 times, and even the other times, I prefered phone calls, not personal visits. We always feel like we need to entertain, if you are honest with yourself. Also it very often bothers the other patient in the room as well. I know as an RN, when visitors came, it was hard to get any patient care done. You either had to ask the visitors to please move, or delay doing anything. Sometimes, we had to ask them to either leave or please be quieter. Back in the old days, they had limits on the number, and certainly times where you were allowed visitors and I think they should go back to that. My personal opinion. As a patient, I was always exhausted by the time the visitors left, in more pain, and finally got to the point where I had to ask them to please leave so I could get some much needed rest! Come see me when I get home and then offer to help with anything, as they discharge way too soon now. Or stop by for a brief visit at home. But when I am in hospital - please call me and talk, I'd love that, but save yourself gas and time and allow me to recover. Peggy
Guest guest
For Me it helped tremendously to have someone visit me at the hospital. I hate those places and it gets so tedious and lonely( this was before the free wifi, laptops etc). I didn't want everyone visiting me of course, but having my Mom there was really supportive I didn't feel so alone, and alien. The visits helped the time to go by quicker and if there were painful things being done knowing I wasn't alone helped a lot. Peace,
