Applications are invited upto 15.11.2007 for the post of

Director at the NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH IN REPRODUCTIVE

HEALTH, MUMBAI: INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARH

The National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health is one of

the leading research Institute in the country working in the

frontier areas of reproductive biology and contraception research.

Currently, the Institute is engaged in the different aspects of

basic reproductive biology and contraception research with special

emphasis on protein peptide hormones for male and female fertility

regulation, immunology and neuroendocrinology. The Institute has

well equipped laboratories with sophisticated equipment and other

infrastructural facilities for conducting laboratory/clinical

studies. This is a senior level administrative position and the

Director would be required to play the role of a team leader for

different scientific groups and which are engaged in the different

aspects of reproduction research in formulation of research

programmes/projects and organizing/co-ordinating the team work. The

Director would be provided a suitable residential accommodation at

Mumbai.

Qualification & Experience:

Essential: Ph.D in life Sciences/Applied Biology or M.D. in

Obst. & Gynae./Paediatrics/Medicine/Public Health with 15 years of

research experience in the field of reproductive biology and

contraception research.

Desirable: Experience in frontier areas of basic/applied

research in the field of reproductive biology/contraception with

original work as evidenced by publications.

Job Requirements:

This is a senior level administrative position where the

Director would be expected to play the role of team leader for co-

ordinating the research programmes of different scientific groups

working in the Institute on various aspects of reproductive biology

and contraception research.

Age: Below 50 years. Relaxable to the extent recommended by Search-

cum-Selection Committee and approved by the Competent Authority for

exceptionally qualified candidates and as per the rules prescribed

by the Govt. of India from time to time in the case of Govt.

servants (including Council's employees)/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled

Tribe/ Backward class.

Salary/Conditions of Service:

The scale of pay attached to the above post is Rs.18400-500-

22400 plus allowances as per Central Govt. rules including NPA for

medical graduates only. Medical aid and Leave Travel Concession are

admissible to the employees and his/her dependent family members as

per Central Govt. rules.

Benefits of new restructured defined contributory Pension system

are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of

Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division )

Notification No. 5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from

1.1.2004. Private practice is not allowed.

sent on the same address on or before the last date alongwith a

crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs.25/- (Rs.Twenty five only)

payable to the Director General, ICMR, New Delhi (SC/ST and

Council's employees are exempted from this payment).

Incomplete/late applications or without postal orders will not be

entertained. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidate or to

bring political or other outside influence with regard to

selection/recruitment shall be disqualification.

which the last date for receipt of applications was 02.07.2007 need

not apply again).

(2) Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates

for the interview/ personal discussion, the applicants will be short-

listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director-General, ICMR

will be final in this regard. Candidates called for personal

discussion for the above mentioned post will be paid Ist class rail

fare by shortest route on production of documents. The above post
