Guest guest
Dave, One thing to think about, pain causes damage, real damage to our bodies, some permanent changes in the brain, hormones to name two. Some medications are definitely harmful taken in large doses over a period of time, others are very much less damaging. What is the cause of your pain? I'm sure we can give you some ideas to try for pain relief. Jennette >Dave wrote: >I was accepted tonight and hope to learn more about dealing with chronic pain. Does anyone have any good treatments they can share. I am not one to take meds due to it might help with pain but what harm is it doing to other parts of my body. Guest guest
Welcome to the group! Approaches to chronic pain management depend on the cause/source of your pain. What is the cause of your pain? What has your doctor said? Diva --- Dave wrote: > > I was accepted tonight and hope to learn more about dealing with chronic pain. Freedom, I understand your concern but for some of us, the continuous pain elevates blood pressure and other problems in our body and destroy organs. My pain management has comprehensive, I do myofascial physical therapy, topical ointments, heat, everyday stretches, hot tub, bio-feedback, and moderate exercise. I have to take timed meds until we correct what is causing pain if we can. American Pain Foundation Website has a section, Learn About Pain, and it has information like this. The Intractable Pain Patient's Handbook for Survival by Dr. Forest Tenent at pain topics.org was introduced to me by my previous pain management doctor and has been my guide for years if you want to check it out. Welcome and the members here have many experiences they can share and we are a caring group in different stages of our pain journey that can at least one thing, encourage others when there seems nothing left to do. It is amazing what a simple e-mail hug or comment can do for a pain patient. Being able to express your feelings and not be judged is a lifesaver and the members and moderators here are great.
