Another Canadian! :-) Hi a I'm sorry you're having so many problems, but glad you found our group. We're a helpful lot, most of the time :-) There is a lot of talk in the group about American issues - disability insurance and medical insurance problems and that type of thing. However, there's lots of good stuff that pertains to the rest of the world. You will likely find that Googling the names of some of the medications mentioned is helpful. The US often has different names for the same medications - made by many of the same companies. One easy example that comes to mind is Maxeran. In the US, it's called Reglan. Another, I can think of - off the top of my head - is Stemitil. I had a violent reaction to Stemitil (Prochlorperazine). When I came to the US, I told the doctor that I couldn't take Stemitil and he didn't know what Stemitil was. After digging through his medical books, he realized that it is the same drug that is called Compazine in the US. :-) I'm from Saskatoon, now in Indiana, but hoping to move home to somewhere in western Canada before I die. I have lots of family in Burnaby and Surrey. A couple of the more wealthy ones live out on the Island in beautiful old houses in and one has a high rise condo in Vancouver. The rest of the family are in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario - with one cousin working hard up in Nunavut.:-) I hope you enjoy the group. I've been with it since shortly after it was first organized, back in the mid 90's. I was glad that was one thing I could " automagically " bring with me from Saskatchewan to Indiana. Do you mean stats as in statistics? Because I love statistics too!! I am pursuing my BS right now in Psych and Math, and statistics is one of my absolute FAVORITE subjects. If you love stats, too, then that's one thing we definitely have in common!! Perhaps, once we get to know each other a little bit better, and if you feel comfortable, we can chat off-list about statistics, if that's what you love. I hope we will be helpful to you. a, There are many kinds of pain, a good pain management Doctor can do an evaluation on you and you choose the plan. Can you share you pain story ? Otherwise, The American Pain Foundation has a good section on " Learn About Pain " that can tell what usually happens for pain management relief. My pain is spinal and Sacral Iliac with some nerve pain and it is 24/7. I had a three level spinal fusion and then an automobile accident afterwards damaging my Sacral Iliac Joint. Along with that comes, spasm, cramps, sleep disorders, and depression at times when my pain is uncontrolled. If it were me, I would ask my Doctor to a referral to a pain management specialist. Realize I am not a Doctor but read the internet and search the subject area of your pain for suggestions and the site I gave you has lots of facts there . What pain do you have ? Good Luck, Welcome, Bennie ,
