If her mantra is that she can't help you, I wouldn't have any faith in her. I am NOT saying that nurse practitioners aren't good, they are often quite excellent. While you wait for an appointment, try ice or heat to see if that relieves some of the pain. Let us know what happens. Kaylene
Guest guest
Thanks. Been doing ice, moist heat, rest, floating in a super warm pool, neck stretches, etc. My PCP uses ER as triage. As a person she is affable, but as a doctor, well, I feel like I'm on my own. Lori Kaylene wrote: Please see a new doctor or nurse practitioner asap. Lori, I am not Doctor but atrophy of muscles cause rigidity but some of these symptoms are those of heart attacks in women. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A12737649 has information on the shoulder. Lori, don't you think you need to get this checked again ? Impingement of nerves as this articles state causes the squeezing but seems they would have done EMG or something. I am hoping they do some intervention and not to worry you but this is not good not to get some testing and maybe your pt will recommend it, please let us know what you find out. Guest guest
Went to pcp yesterday. Saw new dr. She put me on skelaxin said it is just fibro. Had massotherapist work on shoulder, neck, head for 2 hours last night. Muscles barely moved and still locked. Left message for neurologist today. Been in bed on moist heat all day. Numbness spreading in arms and hands. Right hand curling in spasm. With fibro I find drs just ignore most stuff. They can feel the rock hard muscles. Ugh! > Bennie wrote: > I am not Doctor but atrophy of muscles cause rigidity but some of these symptoms are those of heart attacks in women. Lori Please read through every single side effect (no matter how rare it's considered) for every single medication you have recently taken. Muscle rigidity and/or spasms are a side effect of certain medications. You will likely need to go on line to check them all down to the last detail. I had something similar happen to me. It was extremely painful and was caused by a reaction to medication. There are many medications that can cause such reactions. If it is medication related and you keep taking the medication, the damage can be permanent. Hopefully, your problem is not medication related and will resolve. But, you need to be proactive on this one and do the research yourself. When it comes to things like this, we can't wait for a doctor to rule something out. Doctors don't know all the information on all the medications they prescribe. There are so many side effects and contraindications, that there's no way they could learn them all. Call your pharmacy and ask them to run all the info on your side effects and contraindications of all medications. There is also something that concerns me as Valium is usually given to release hand spasm and I have been given it for tremors. EMG's are done to see what is going on and also to rule out other things. If you ask them to check your heart, they will. Neurological disorders manifest in different ways and also fibromyalgia co exists with neurological disorders. As I have said before, I am not a Doctor. I have experienced tremors from Reglan and found out it causes Tardive dyskensia symptoms (Parkinsons). Lyndi, brought this to my attention before and I went through my meds I also went through all my meds. I found many contraindications. I hope you get relief soon Lori . Also, have they checked your C-spine with CT thin slices lately ? Hope you get some testing and find out what is going on. I have had to point blank ask my neurosurgeon for testing before and he always is open and I wonder why he doesn't offer it first and we have had found problems. Good Luck and let us know, I am thinking of you. Bennie
Guest guest
Thank you. They are considering emg. They said my mri of head, neck and spine were normal a year ago, so no testing. > Bennie > Lyndi is right about medications.
