Re: In pain from cleaning - vent

I used to let some things pile up but now I delegate a little time each day off

and on to do tasks that will keep me caught up. Sometimes I do my bathroom in

square feet.

I mop floors by spraying cleaner on the floor and taking an old towel with my

feet wiping. Good exercise, just a little at a time. It's the bathtub that

breaks my back and getting on my knees to clean around the toilet itself. It's

painful and so hard to get back on my feet.

Never thought this would be me. I was always so very active in the 70's and

80's.

It's amazing what you got done today. Do what you can to recuperate.

apartment) and vacuumed all 702 square feet--BY MYSELF. I have 4 more bags of

trash to take out, but it is now raining, so I will wait on that. It just

accumulates because it hurts my back to take it out to the dumpster. And

vacuuming KILLS me.

Such gentle hugs for you .

I know exactly how you feel right now. Just wish I had a housekeeper at any

time, I have to do the cleaning and everything else by myself so I guess you can

imagine it does not get done often enough.

Why can't people understand how much it hurts to just carry some trash bags to

the dumpster???

You take care of yourself.

Hi ,

I can relate to being in pain and unable to do much.

Don't you have a bunch of kids in your apartment complex? I would get those kids

when your trash needs taking out and give them a quarter a bag and they would be

tickled to get the money and you will be tickled you don't have to go down the

stairs. Another idea, I have done is throw all the bags over the rails and you

only have to go down once!

Hope this helps you,

I'm with you on that one Jennette. A bit each day, keeps mess from

piling up. It we let it get away on us, it gets like the fish says in

'The Cat in the Hat.' " This mess is so big and so deep and so tall, we

cannot clean it up, there is no way at all! " The more garbage and dirt

accumulate, the more daunting the tasks are that need to be

accomplished. It's also a whole lot more painful to clean up a big mess

than to pick away at little messes.

I have a rule about not going to bed when there are still dirty dishes

or mess around the sink. Even when I have the head pain and nausea from

hell, I keep that area clean. I also get the garbage out. I can't

stand the smells from a dirty sink or from piled up garbage. They make

me feel worse, both physically and mentally. When head pain is bad,

dirty smelly things just make it worse for me.

I bought a Shark steam mop. It works great. I can stand up straight

and use it. I still can't do the whole room in one shot. I do part of

the room, take a break, do another part, take a break. Within a couple

of hours the floors are shiny again.

It's the bathtub that breaks my back and getting on my knees to clean

around the toilet itself. It's painful and so hard to get back on my feet.

I get into the bathtub to clean it. Leaning over the side is more than

my spine and knees can take. I have a kneeling sponge for hands and

knees work - like behind the toilets and out doors. I get the jobs over

as quickly as possible.

I've always lived with pain, but until I hit my thirties, I used to go

like a fiend at work and play all day. Fall into bed, sleep like the

dead for seven or eight hours and then get up ready to go again.

Now it's plod, plod, plod, through each day. It could be worse though.

I could be wallowing in self pity. If that ever happens, I'll be a

goner. When one of my client's starts in with the 'why me?' routine, I

usually say 'why not you?' That either cheers them up or makes them mad

at me for a few minutes:-)

Do Roomba's work on carpet though? I have two levels connected by stairs

that are all fully carpeted...I have to say that cleaning the stairs are

sooo hard for me with my condition. I guess it doesn't help that I have

four cats to get them all furried up :) My cats are always moving cat toys

around and whatnot, would be hard to have a Roomba trying to vacuum with a

cat toy every two feet or so.

I would love it if Roomba worked on carpet, but I have heard bad things

about that.

Cheers,

Crystal
