orion's feet were kind of big. those little baby soft shoes never fit him; he

used to wear toddler socks... we used to say he had " finger toes " ...

Hum, good question!! Cory is 7 and weighs 37 lbs soaking wet (which is

often!!! still in diapers) and his shoe size is a child's 9. Zach is 10 ,

weighs 65lbs (51 inches tall...as per yesterday at the pulmo visit) and wears

a size 2 in boys shoes. Both the boys do have micro-stuff (celphia,

genetialia, kidney size, etc) and have always been below the 5th precentile.

Well Zach no longer is but he certainly is in the smaller group of kids in

his third grade class (even though he " should " be in 5th grade age wise).

Their dad is 6' 2 " (215lbs) and mom(me) just barely making to 5 feet (125lbs).

Tony (dad) does have thyroid issues .. and after reading the postings about

thyroids here on the list I'm begining to wonder about Zach ... he's recently

started to " puff " up a bit ... marshmellowy type of weight gain (face and

stomach).. you know where ya just want to pinch his squishy cheeks and smile.

I will probably have Tony ask his endo doc about it then next time he goes

there (should be in a couple of weeks) to see is she has any imput that might

be helpfull???

I'd also like to hear if anyone else here is having to deal with " abnormally "

large tonsils/adnoids with their kids. Cory is suspected of having obstructed

apnea from where his tonsils are blocking off the airways when he lays down.

How we found out about this is his speech/swallow issues were continuing to

get worse. The video Floriscope showed that he only had 1mm of space to

breath thru in his nose because of the adnoids and just a tiny bit of room in

his throat to swallow food thru. The " suspected " reason that he is getting

choked on food is because what doesn't go down the throat is being pushed up

into his nose till a path is cleared. Since there isn't enough room to eat

AND breath it's no wonder he's chosen to air over food. We were scheduled for

a T & A to be done on the 21st but that has been cancelled (bummer) because the

ENT and our PCP were concerned about post-op problems so they want it to be

done at the Children's Hospital (which our current ENT doesn't have

priliveges). So we have to start all over and go from there. Originally the

ENT said that if it were just nutriention related he'd rather opt for a

G-tube placement and leave the Tonsils and adnoids (Cory's not a good

surgical " risk " kinda guy since he's allergic to most of the pain meds <ie

Morphine, Fentynl, Codiene>) but since it was found to be interfering with

breathing it's not optional anymore. The ENT still feels that neurologically

speaking Cory will eventually need (catch this) auxilary nutritional

assistance (ughh give me a break!!! just spit it out in plain english!!). So

in a way I'm sort of glad that we'll have to start fresh with a new ENT,

hopefully this one will not be on the Flonaise/allergy kick and use " plain "

words in conversation. :::I can hope can't I???:D

Well I'd better go ... we have to prove to the school board that Tori is

having conductive hearing loss from the retracting eardrums ... guess they

gotta " see " it to beleive the many reports generated by the ENT and local

Speech/Hearing Clinic here. So it's off for a 30 minute drive to their main

office to have them test her in " their " soundproof box. Oh the joys of public

education huh?:P

Hi

My son is small for his age also - age 8.5. His foot size is a childs13.

Just figured I put that out for comparison for you. He is 47 lbs and about

120 cm. (whatever that is in inches!). He seemed to stop growing for a

while and then started again. Seemed to be a shoe size 12 for over a year

and a half. His weight has been very variable - height used to be above 50

percent but now down under 10.

Hi Gloria,

WOW has little tiny baby feet too. They are sooooo small.

body.

Clayton will be 3 on March 30th and wears an infant 6 that he has had for

more than 8 months and they are still big on him. But all my kids seem to

have small feet though - Clayton's twin Cole wears an 7 and Jake who will be

7 in April only wears a 12

Steph began walking at 5, and walks/runs at 10 and her feet are still teeny,

even for her smaller size.

How is the rest of her growth? One of the signs of growth hormone failure in

addition to no linear growth

is that the feet don't grow either.

Jeanine,

a was 43.5 inches and 6.9 years when she died. Although she was

short for 7, her feet were still EXTREMELY small for her height. She had

been in the 80% for height early on, but after seizures, meds, the keto

diet things changed.

Gloria,

Sorry to be so slow on this thread...just now catching up on mail from

our little " vacation " ...lol

also has very small feet...he's almost 15 months old and cant

even wear shoes, yet. Even the infant soft soled shoes are so big they

fall right off of him.
