I'll call them on Monday evening. I had a situation wherein I had to switch

from an orthopaedic surgeon when my daughter was 5-1/2 months old and

started seeing Dr. Colburn. Of course, I felt disloyal to my first doctor,

but he was a poor communicator and I've never regretted the wonderful

treatment she has gotten from Dr. Colburn. We have to remember that we, as

consumers of medical care, have a choice. I'll be glad to share my

experience with them.

I need one of Dr. Colburn's parents to do

a favor......

I've been speaking to the parents of a child being treated by a non-

Ponseti practitioner. The child is 4+ months old and has had a

tenotomy. They are now talking about a possible 2nd tenotomy and

using AFO type bracing. I'm concerned. I've given the parents Dr.

P's book and video. They came to our home and we shared all of the

information we had with them. Now, we just returned from 2 weeks of

vacation and when I phoned them, they still had not called Dr.

Colburn for a consult. Dr. Colburn is with the same health care

system that their currently in. They are afraid of offending their

current doctor. I, of course, told them that their child's treatment

was more important than their doctors feelings. I think though that

more information from a parent whose child has been treated by Dr.

Colburn may be helpful for them to hear.

Their names are Fasih (Fa-SEE) and Vaseem. Their son's name is

Humsah. He has bi-lateral clubfeet. Would there be at least 1 or 2

parents here that would volunteer to phone this couple? Best time to

try is in the evening after 6:30pm (I think). Their number is: 510-

659-8104. The husband, Fasih, is the one I usually speak with. I

think Vaseem isn't that comfortable with English. I asked them if it

was ok that I have some parents from this list phone them, and he

said that would be good. I gave him the numbers of Anandhi and Indra

as they were the only numbers of local folks I could find at the

time, but neither of them used Dr. C and I don't know if he will call

them.

Volunteers?
