You and others should not feel bad about missing work. You are not a pansy.

Every day you get up and fight pain that others hopefully will never have to

fear. That takes a huge amount of strength and courage. It would be so much

easier to call it quits on life but we make the choice not to because we love

our families, friends, or pets, etc. We still feel like we have something to

contribute to this world.

Going to work is just one part of our life and it is difficult to say no to

that part because as small children we are taught that work is important and

gives us value in society. I think that's why a lot of elderly people are

looked upon with disregard because they are no longer " working " and contributing

to society. They like those of us in chronic pain are pushed to the side.

I know I said I was still working but my days of doing so are numbered. I

know I will miss my students and some coworkers like Bennie said. But I will

not miss the stress or the days crying in my car, wondering how the heck I will

be able to walk to the building or face the children with my pretend pain free

face. I will not miss having to tell my coworkers for the billionth time that

no I can not go out after work to bars, clubs, wherever because my pain level

after doing a day's work has left me with nothing.

Please take care of yourself and never feel poorly about your inability to do

manual labor. God has given you a different road to take in life. You're doing

an awesome job. Becky

Becky,

As usual, you said it so well. Hang in there, girl. Think of you often. Bennie
