Guest guest
I've written before and for some reason it did not post. I have a question for those of you posting about the neur-stimulator. Are you talking about the implant that has electrodes and lead wires that connect to a battery in another part of your body? I have that. It is not ran or controlled by a remote and white noise is not what interferes with the pain signals. The modulator which is part of the system is actually programed by a special technician. The ones that work with me are from St. Jude. I have one electrode now due to having one removed which I wrote about before (I hope it is posted at some point). The battery can also be called the modulator. The technician connects to it through your skin, but you have to have the paddle against the skin on top of the modulator to make the connection. He then proceeds to send electric impulses from the modulator to the electrodes. There are different ways to affect different parts within one area, mine is the occipital. He sets it for the area and then for the strength of the electrical impulse. These electrical impulses interfere with the normal impulses in the brain and around the area of the electrodes that tell you that you feel pain. There for you don't feel the pain, or you don't feel it to the extent that you had prior to the implant. I have a device which also has a paddle. I place it on top of the modulator to turn it on, choose which program I want to use and to turn down or up the intensity of the stimulation. Also, my battery is a rechargeable battery. If recharged at the right intervals should last me for up to 10 years. I also charge the battery with yet another device that has a paddle that has to lay directly next to my skin where the implant is in order for a good enough connection for it to charge. Please let me know if this is the same device you are talking about. There are good things and less than good things about this. I wish you all a less painful night, Bren
