Guest guest
Advised by my physical therapist not to see a dr with more than 10. Yrs experience. Need an orthopedic spine specialist. Any number of your issues in the cervical area could cause those issues. I have a traction machine for home use that can alleviate the tingling as opposed to surgery. My pinky and ring finger get the tingling with prolonged computer use, so I switched to my cell phone. My physical therapist gave me great neck exercises, including chin tucks. For that particular issue. I hope it will be okay. My pinky will experience pins and needles only. I had an MRI done which showed problems all over my back, but the main area that concerns me is C5 through C7. Guest guest
I am not completely sure, but I find the last 1 or 2 cervical nerves connect to the shoulder and upper back. I have arthritis in my neck and upper back and now my shoulders. I get pain into my shoulder down to my elbow. the description of your pinky going numb and tingling could be from the nerve pinching at the elbow joint. When I had my carpel tunnel the doctor ask me about that and explain if I had that that I would need surgery on my elbow. Luckily the test showed I did not have narrowing in the elbow joint. I had to have the emg (? think it is called) test. They send electrical impulses through a specific part of your body to see how your nerve conduction is. I had a hand specialist order the test. I had PT for my neck and shoulders. It helped reduce some of the pain. I also go to a chiropractor on a regular basis to help keep my neck from getting to stiff. He does a gentle manipulation. I regularly do gentle yoga to help reduce the stiffness. Hope this is of some help. With what I described here, is there any way a 30 year experienced doctor could flat out say that I couldn't be experiencing the pain described? Hi, Nerves are attached from the spinal column called dermatones (my explanation). You can type in an internet search: Dermatome map of body or spine and it will show you what areas of the spine correlate to your pain. Hope that helps. Bennie This website is interactive and when you click on it, it explains the relationship : http://www.healthline.com/human-body-maps/spine Thanks for any help.http://healthpages.org/anatomy-function/spinal-cord-anatomy/ The dermatome map shows the correlations between the nerve root location as it exits the spinal column and the area of the body it supplies with sensation conduction at this website: http://www.dr-bertagnoli.com/dermatome-map.html Bennie

Yes, he could say it, but that doesn't make it true. You know how you feel, he can't feel it. I would find a new doctor, STAT. Is there anything we may call you other than toekneeabc? It doesn't have to be your real name, it's just nice to have something more personal to use. Kaylene

All, I had a pain management doctor tell me I could not be hurting as bad as I was stating and after over fifteen spinal injections, he did a discogram and three of my discs had fissures and were disintegrated and he was embarrassed to tell me " There is nothing else I can do for you " But he was arrogant and agreed I should have been hurting, Spine Universe articles state that after a series of three spinal injections, they should be deemed ineffective and a disco-gram should be done, instead I had years of uncontrolled pain. This is the same Doctor who chastised me for missing an appointment (two actually) and I told him I had called and his own Nurse approved it and one missed appointment was when my Mother died and the other was when I had military training. I did a memo for record , got a copy of my Mother's death certificate and my military orders and asked they be placed in my medical records in case another Doctor might misread the situation. It is so ironic that the Doctors go over your responsibilities on a pain contract but how many have gone over their responsibilities? Anyone have a Doctor do that or give them a copy of the Pain Patients Bill of Rights? I had one that did and got my pain controlled.
