Guest guest
Bennie You can turn down part A or B coverage. Part B penalizes you if you enroll late, UNLESS YOU HAVE OTHER CREDIBLE COVERAGE. You should be able to turn down Part B (Part A is usually free). Medicaid pays my Part B premiums, but they don't give me a choice when it comes to accepting parts B & D. Tricare may have programs to help you pay your Medicare premiums. Hope that helps you. That makes me have to pay the Medicare Premium , my husband cannot care, he is under his Retired Military and we are no longer family plans. The official Medicare Handbook is at this website and i great. www.medicare.gov/publications/pubs/pdf/10050.pdf I was a Hospital Administrator in the Tricare Management Program and understand it fully and now am living this part and the part for Young Adult is eligible for my son through another avenue Thanks, Bennie. All these fact sheets and different categories, because we all are, different categories, need to be checked out. This way, people do not miss out on federal or state programs so make sure you know which categories and what programs your state may offer you Bennie > > [

I to am retired Military with 50% VA disability. I did 24 years in the Coast Guard. I was put out for medical reasons. They let me collect retirement pay, VA disability, SSID and Long term disability from an employer where I was hurt after the military. Between my employer and tricare they required I sign up for medicare after 2 years of long term disability. The funny thing now is that Tricare, Medicare and Aetna (from my employer) are all fighting about who pays first. It is always Medicare whom pays first. wishing you a pain free day Bill/MI
Guest guest
I was told hubby's insurance that his insurance is primary and my medicare is secondary, which I was glad because Medicare has denied everything. They pay for next to nothing. Hubby's insurance pays for nuvigil. Medicare won't! My mom is older and pays more for healthcare because of Medicare because my dad's insurance won't pay for anything medicare won't pay for, even if her insurance had been paying! What a racket!! > Bennie wrote: > I am not eligible for Medicaid, I draw Social Security Disability Income and because I am retired military (even though I do not receive my pay yet) I have to take Part A Medicare (Hospital) of I do not get my Part B (Office, Medication,Lab, etc) or Tricare for Life. Medicaid pays my Part B premiums, but they don't give me a choice when it comes to accepting parts B and D. Tricare may have programs to help you pay your Medicare premiums. , I cannot turn down my Part B as then I don't have my medications, it is a military thing with Tricare and I do not have Medicaid, Medicare. For me to keep my medication entitlement and Part B which pays my office visits etc, I must take Medicare A and B then they pay for my medications and I pay a premium. So, my Part D is Tricare so to speak, since it is a benefit I get for serving in the military or my husband first. If he dies, I can use my military benefits. Just the way it works and I am thankful I have coverage. I am responsible for paying my premiums due to income. This is not like you and I cannot turn it down. These are two federal programs and having dealt with the military for over thirty years, Trust me on this one . Thank you for caring though. Always remember that each state has supplemental programs that are different so we all that live in different states will or may get different support. If you want to read up on it, go to Disability Medicare and Tricare beneficiaries. You will understand then. I only have to pay three dollars and nine dollars if brand name and I am not turning that down. I also do not have deductible or have any office call payments or pay for any of my labs or procedures. So I will pay the premium Bennie
