Hi all,

Does anybody here know about pain caused by a change in barometric pressure?

Another name might be weather related pain.

Anyway, for about the last 5 years or so, I have felt the on come of real neck

pain when a high pressure weather front approaches our area (Hof, Germany).

The pain is intense and can last for up to 10 hours. I went to an orthopedic

doctor to see about it - well, I don't know how it is in other parts of the

world, but here the waiting room is full. Then when it is your turn, it is

rather short with a few suggestions as to what causes the pain and then the

transfer to have massages to the area that needs help.

Okay, that did seem to help for a while. It could also be that in the warmer

Summer months the pain would not come that often anyway.

I stayed with the 2 weeks of massages, but never went back to the doctors

office. I talked to a different massage expert and he told me he has many

patients that seem to have the same thing as I do. In other words, at the

on-set of a weather front the pain sets in. When the new front has arrived, the

pain stops and all is well for 3 to 6 days.

I did get some pain relief pills which seemed to help. Found, or imagined, that

best results come when the pill is taken before eating with lots of water.

The pills have the name of: Diclofenac-ratiopharm 75 mg SL Retardkapseln.

(Moderator note: that's Diclofenac slow release) Diclofenac-Natrium.(that's

Diclofenac instant release - both are NSAIDs). Only took one capsule when the

pain started. Then usually 3 to 6 days of pain free.

Open to any tips on how to best deal with such pain and, of course, anybodies

news which says they beat the pain altogether without pain pills.

My specific pain is in the neck region below the left ear. Over the last 3

years it has " changed " somewhat - from being very sharp to now being the dull

but terrible pain. A person might think that bed rest would help, but just

laying in bed and not able to find a position that eases the pain is a major job

without any results. The best hope is that the pain would start early in the

day and end later in the evening.

Thanks in advance for any comments, etc.

Bill
