It helped me on a temporary basis and it is worth a try but look at the side effects. Bennie
Guest guest
I have had epidural spine injections and they relieved pain for almost a year. It reduced pain - didn't eliminate it. It takes a bit of getting used to emotionally and physically to the fact there is always some amount of pain present. The goal is to keep it to a minimum. I personally will never do surgery unless I lose bowel or bladder control or get foot drop. The main question to ask your doc about surgery is to what degree will this greatly reduce my pain? Guest guest
Was going to, but did research and decided the risks outweighed the very short-term relief. > wrote: > Has any one tried the Facet block for their back pain???? Guest guest
I tried it and it worked for a little while (one week) but then the pain came right back. I've been dealing with this stuff for 10 years and I've done about everything I could. For some reason the injections\ blocks don't last long in my body. But everyone is different. If it will give you a day of pain relief I say its worth it. However, keep looking into other avenues of pain relief through your doctor and your own research. Then you could bring it up to your doctor on your next visit to see if it is viable for you. Good luck and lots of prayers coming your way! > wrote: > Has any one tried the Facet block for their back pain???? Instead of jumping into surgery, the Dr. said this would be something I could try. Ellen, Surgery cannot guarantee pain elimination but I had it because of the function of my spine and the discs were gone and each vertebrae were sitting on top of each other and it provided structure and the ability for my to be active again more than I was. I did not make the decision lightly and got three opinions. Facet blocks actually helped me more than anything as that is where my pain generator were. The problem is finding out the location and whether it is disc or other problems. You are right about pain, that is why it is called pain management with the emphasis on management. I went through all the conservative options and glad I had the surgery but an auto accident caused other problems. I got a double whammy and am paying the price. Lori, You are right as I paid a price of getting arachnoiditis and it is very painful in itself. The medicine they inject are neurotoxins and irritate the spine and even the Spine Doctors state it is a temporary fix that has been to deemed to be ineffective in the long run. There are many articles on Spine Universe.com and Spine Health that will give you some insight. Good Luck on your choices and make sure you understand the side effects as those were not mentioned to me and I am angry that I was seeking pain relief and did not step back and see the side effects. Guest guest
I'm sorry, Bennie. I know what you mean. I had back problems long ago without pain for 10 years. Then, I fell. Ploomp! That was all she wrote. Ellen >Bennie wrote: >Ellen, >You are right about pain, that is why it is called pain management with the emphasis on management. I did have the epidueal shots with no luck. What if any did you have.
