Recommendations from International Drug Users Day Observation in Manipur

Dear FORUM,

A weeklong campaign was organised by Future Development Drug Users Organization,

Manipur on the observance of International Drug Users' Day 2007 with a series of

events. A State level workshop was also organised exclusively for Drug Users on

the 29th october 2007 at Imphal. The following recommendation were drafted:

Recommendation

1. To strengthen and communicate among User network/platform through

identification of common goal and objective for user activism.

2. User community to participate in Policy making/decision, planning,

implementation to the entire program associated with drugs and related issues.

3. To increase advocacy, awareness and sensitization to government, civil

society organization, pressure groups, Media and general community so as to

understand the issues of the drug user and reduce harassment, stigma and

discrimination.

4. Access to comprehensive treatment for the entire drug user which include free

detoxification, DSTP, NSEP, De-addiction and Rehab.

5. Drug user to abide the duties and to honor the other’s right.

6. To observe the International Drug User day with common theme in the State.
