I am going on 49yo in January. I have had all my blood work done. The nurse said my Oxygen level was good so maybe everything is ok? Coleen, Only a Doctor can tell you that but I have found when I question something with my body it is my body telling me to get checked. Your blood pressure will go up with increased pain and it is your body's way of saying do something to help me. My blood pressure has been as high as 230/115 when I was in increased pain and when I was given pain shot it went down to normal. That is why it is so important to get your pain controlled so the increased blood pressure doesn't damage organs. It also depends if your heart murmur is caused by a problem with your heart. Also when you have high blood pressure they usually have you keep your blood pressure for a week so they can tell if this is one time or a real problem. They call high blood pressure the silent killer and I am guilty of not taking my blood pressure medicine. Please talk with the nurse or Doctor about this as it is something to take care of along with the pain problems. Here is a website I liked when I wanted to learn about how blood pressure effects the body and how to treat it. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/hbp/index.html . I think you need a follow up and evaluation for treatment but that is just me. It is better to be safe than have problems as that will be harder to treat. Please let us know what you find out and your body is telling you " Get me Checked " : ) I can relate and Good Luck ! Bennie
Guest guest
What valve has the murmur? It's hard to say why you get short of breath, have you had an echocardiogram of your heart? If you normally don't have high blood pressure in a doctor's office then it's important to treat this. I have both a murmur and high blood pressure but I've had the murmur all my adult life, it's my tricuspid valve and I also have left ventricular dysfunction. Most older folks have this but mine is worse than expected with some pulmonary hypertension. Still, doctors aren't concerned with my heart function and I'm not complaining of shortness of breath either. Jennette >Coleen wrote: > > >I have a heart murmur on the left side.
