Guest guest
Dear Amy, One very important thing to do is to check out ALL the school options, visit each classroom a couple of times before making a decision. I opted for the one closest to home that seemed to have a decent, 50-ish teacher... One of the worst mistakes I've ever made! Ended up with a teacher who flat-out told us they didn't give Staci switch-toys to play with very often, because they didn't know if her movement/ hitting the switch was purposeful or by accident! Of course, this WAS just after she had gotten glasses that were strong enough, and a year or so before Carnitor... We got her out of that class and school as quickly as we could! This post just brought back these horrendous memories... and helped point out how well she's doing now! Other than that, standard IEP advice: Not written in, not done.
