Guest guest
,Lori I have wondered about PAD since one of the ways to get it is staying in bed a lot causing decreased circulation without getting up and keeping the circulatory system going. I just read information for testing for it and at least you can get a baseline that is easily done: One simple test your doctor may use to diagnose P.A.D. is called the Ankle-Brachial Index (A.B.I.). The A.B.I., which takes only a few minutes, compares blood pressure readings from your arms and ankles to give you an A.B.I. number. Your doctor can help you understand what your A.B.I. number means for you. Also keep in mind that there are other tests for P.A.D. that may be recommended by your doctor. Did they do this with you ? I forgot that the " tightness and squeezing feeling " I did experience when taking Lyrica. It was not like fluid retention but as you describe Lori and the weight gain I experienced did not come off easy and was more like that weight gain of post pregnancy or hormonal weight gain. When people would call it edema as in water retention I would try to clarify but the description you use Lori explained what I had with Lyrica, and was accumulative. It get adding as months go by but this is my experience and only mine. My appointment with the immunologist is August 29 on my birthday and he was trained at Harvard and has a good prospectus so I am hopeful he can help my poor immune suppressed body. Lori, I know you have Lymes and a very interesting situation happened here in Austin, Tx. A Nurse Practitioner, with a Doctorate who specialized in Lyme disease started getting great results and people were coming from all over. Her name is Ginger Savely and was working in an office with another Doctor. The infectious disease doctors did not like it as they thought her below them and her protocol was different than theirs and she was also warning of more incidents of Lyme Disease in Texas that had been reported. The Texas Medical Society put her to the grill and the Doctor she worked for was " off handedly " told that his practice would suffer if he did into get rid of her. There was a big write up in local newspaper and the clincher, she had received Nurse Practitioner of the year, the year before all of this. Ms. Savely moved to San Francisco and most of her patients here fly there for appointments. She is a sought after speaker and specialist of Lymes and other disease borne symptoms. Here is an exert of what is said about her: Dr. Savely has been specializing in the treatment of Lyme disease and other tick borne diseases since the year 2000 and in the newly emerging Morgellons disease since 2003. She is a member of the prestigious International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) and follows their approach to diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Savely has more clinical experience with Morgellons disease than any other health care provider in the world. Her many published articles and speaker presentations have earned her national media attention and the respect of her peers/ Lori she has a website and I have been told she is open to guide patients to others or her publications might interest you. The website that lists her publications is http://www.gingersavely.com/Publications.html Let me know what you find out and if anything helps you. It was a really big deal here in Austin and the Texas Department of Health ran off a great health care provider. Bennie
