Hello All,

I had been gone from the group for a year or so and needed to come back.

Late last year I was having great difficulty with my chronic pain. I couldn't

think straight at work and often couldn't be productive. My doctor set up an

appoint for me to see a pain doctor but it was not going to happen for six

months so from November until this April I waited. I kept hoping I could stay at

work and for far longer than I should have had I stayed. Finally I left work in

early April on paid leave and would stay at home. I saw the pain doctor and he

thought after meeting with me wanted to try me on Lyrica once I was off the

Neurontin. The Lyrica did not work but a cream he gave me for the burning in my

feet and hands does except when a storm is on the way or here then it doesn't

till it passes.

When he took me off Lyrica he said go on a bit of Neurontin for sleep

which I thought strange especially since it is not meant as a sleep aid at all.

So I only took one pill. I waited until the last day of June when I finally had

an appointment with a rhematologist. For years doctors told me it was not

fibromyalgia and was stuck with somataform sympathetic dystrophy. The

rhematologist said I had nine points for fibromyalgia and she might find out I

had the other two in my records.

I got a call in late July saying I had fibromyalgia and I asked the nurse

if I had 11 points for a firm diagnosis. She said she did not know. She said I

got my diagnosis and not to worry about it. I then went back to my pain doctor

at my next set appointment and he put me on Savella. I was brought up to 150 mg

over more than two weeks. He was generous and gave me two starter packs with

directions to do each starter dose twice so one, one again, ect.

I called him today and said it was still not working and have no idea if

he will say go to 200mg or remove me from it. I get a call back in a couple

hours or so with his next instructions.

My pain doctor told me these were the only two medicines left to me Savella

and Cymbalta. It is a very scary thought that if these fail what is left to me.

I have been home bound for 4 months. My pain goes off way way easily. I can't

imagine not being able to do a thing.
