Guest guest
Hi all, I have brilliant news I got hold of pest control who couldn't of been more helpful. Within a hour someone came out to take a look and have a chat. Much to my horror over 2 hundred were found underneath my floor boards and in my clothes. He explained to me that the problem must of been there for weeks. Due to a very messy room I simply had not noticed my unwanted friends. He said asthma suffers do react more then anyone when it comes to what he called and I quote " nasty and diseased crawlies " , He said although maggots seem harmless enough, don't be fooled by them. They were Fruit fly maggots not any normal house fly. He said he hopes that my inhalers which were kept on the same chair have since been thrown out which of course even I knew. He asked me about my asthma when I was unaware of the problem which was bad uncontrolled. But since being out of the room and it being cleaned top to bottom curtains and soft furniture boiled, washed all my clothes a few need to be washed a lot had to be binned well over 7 black bin bags full, and in total a massive 9 bin bags of things I no longer need or ever used were binned. Although I did learn a lot from the pest control officer who was here for almost 4 hours. He said contrary to popular believe that Maggots cause no physical threat no matter how small they will attach themselves to What he called fresh food source I.E. Human dead skin. He has said chances of him having gotten rid of all of the maggots are slim he said they will be in places you can't even imagine. Electric sockets although most likely dead, also computers due to warmth. He checked my desktop computer and he said it was caught reasonably quickly so no major damage has been done. He said the best way to make sure that it never happens again is to keep rooms clean and free of rubbish and Apple and banana skins. Which is what the flies feed off and is what caused the maggots. He used a small camera to go in small cracks but none were found. He said when I am able Steam and re-steam the carpet and shampoo it and hopefully fingers crossed it will be the last I see of them. He said they hate really hate fresh air so best way to kill them leave window open for 20 hours a day to rid them. Lets say I am know happier in the knowledge that he is 95% sure.
