The email you received from me to click on a link is a VIRUS. DO NOT open

it. Sorry. Thought my computer was safe with all of the stuff I have on it

to shield it. Guess not.--

Moderator's Note: Darlyene, the message may not have originated on your

machine. It could have orginated from anyone who has your email in his/her

address book.

Please everybody, update your anti virus programs and do a complete scan. We

have been deleting all sorts of email with viruses in it this past couple of

weeks.

If you don't have an anti virus program, a free, excellent one is made by (of

all people) Microsoft. You can safely download and install it from:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx

Please remember that your anti virus program won't always work automatically for

you. At least a couple of times a week, make sure that the updates are really

up to date. Also, don't expect that scans will always happen automatically. If

our machines are turned off a scan time, (usually the middle of the night), the

anti virus program won't work. You can click on Scan and scan manually. You

don't need to wait for the automatic settings to kick in.

I've had people bring computers to me for repair. They swear all that their

anti virus progams and anti malware programs are up to date. When I check the

last time anything had happened with the anti virus program, I often find that

it hasn't been run for months. Their computers are completey crippled from all

the nasty stuff that has accumulate on them.

If you leave it too long between scans, your whole drive may need to be wiped

and Windows reinstalled. It can only handle so much file corruption before it

becomes irreparable.
