Guest guest
Dear Cyrilla, I am covered under Long Term Care from my County's Department of Human Services. I also receive Medicaid. Medicaid covers my monthly Medicare payment, diapers, oxygen, and many, many other needed things. They cover an RN coming to my home weekly as well as a housekeeper. They can come more as needed. I have been on SSDI since 2007. I also have a small pension which is deducted from my SSDI payment, just to keep things fair!. I originally had the same physical ailment you do along with depression from dealing with it. That's what enabled my SSDI approval. I couldn't continue working unless I worked sitting in a bathroom (literally!). Now I have developed severe arthritis, central sleep apnea, and other medical issues. If I can get SSDI, you should be able to as well. Make sure you get an attorney who specializes in SSDI. He can subpoena all your records, especially the ones your having trouble getting. In the meantime, you should be able to create an account on Medicare.gov and track all your tests occurring there. At least you will have a record of when and what you already had done, so as not to repeat all those tests necessarily. That should be sufficient proof for other physicians. I don't know what state you are in, but most states have a Medicare and/or Medicaid Ombudsman who may be able to help you track records as well. Have you tried the hospital the physician was associated with? They may have records as well as the outsource companies such as LabCorp, etc, that tested your blood, Radiologists that wrote reports, etc?. Also, the State Licensing Board must have information on your physician, because if he's running from Medicare, they will be looking into him too. They will have his physician's license number for your state and any actions that are pending. You can check online or have a friend do it for you. They can also check other states...this probably not his first time. All his records will be subpoenaed for the fraud case and you can get the copies. They are your records and if I'm not incorrect, it is your right under HIPPA. As far as nourishing meals, you may be eligible for Meals on Wheels. The financial requirements are not that stringent. They bring the meals to your home either frozen or hot, depending on where you live on their route. Many churches will also include you in their Food Bank Programs for the home-bound. There are Social Workers at most hospitals and community centers available to help navigate available resources in the community. I hope this information helps. If I can help you with any specific questions, please feel free to email me. Debie >Cyrilla wrote: Thank you all. I have had IBS all my life but was mostly constipated. In September of last year I had to go cold turkey off 12 medications, I lost my insurance and my doctor was running from Medicare fraud so all my records are lost. I could not pay for more tests with another clinic with no insurance. >We thought the tremendous diarrhea was a result of that. However it has remained for 23 months. Unable to stand at the stove and cook has left well nourished meals by the wayside, Unable to qualify for any food programs and unable to go shopping leaves too many prepackaged and sweets available which is the wrong thing for me. I used to live on fruits and vegetables and salads and now have to refrain from all of it! Hopefully Fridays blood work will shed some light for my doctor and me! Debbie/Cryilla: There is a national number 211 that has a list of local number and other agencies that assist in all areas. I was able to get financial assistance for my niece through this avenue. The advocates are listed on the letter that Medicare sends you ant it gives a number of contacts that assist you that are independent. You are allowed to get copies of your medical records and they may charge you. The Doctor has to maintain the originals for a number of years so they will maintain them for auditing. If you need records of something done at the hospital they have a medical records number and Radiology and Lab can be contacted for your results. Radiology gives you a disc or copy, one free, then they have a charge. The CD sometimes is write protected and you cannot view it on you computer (just doctors software). Most offices have their forms that you have to fill out and sign to get medical records, not just a written request, so call them and check it out. The RN is Home Health and you Doctor signs a prescription and the Home Health does assessments dependent on your condition. My Father and Friend I am medical representative for has this and depending on need they come out more. I also was approved without a lawyer and the Medicare representative stated that it was because I had documented everything and had my Doctors support. I also got everything that state optional to get, I did it anyway. I had co workers, family, and friends submit letters that state how my condition changed. I also got a copy of my job description and took every task and justified how I couldn't do it anymore. SSI made me go to their Doctors and their psychiatrist. The first Doctor just looked at MRI and said, This says it all and I am signing this off for you. I was also honest with the psychiatrist and discussed bouts of depression, he said he had no trouble signing the paperwork. Here is a quality assurance company in Norman Oklahoma that assist patients, check it out: http://www.ofmq.com/for-patients. You can also contact me Cyrilla and I can let you know what I did. Surely with the members here and what they have experienced, we can support. I hope you are feeling better now. Bennie
