Is there a consensus on this group about infrared cooking?

Glowing quartz-halogen tubes lend a high-tech gee whiz effect, but I'm

not inclined to believe that they offer superior cooking ability. A

potential downside is that quartz-halogen tubes are fragile and have a

limited lifespan. In the Flavorwave oven, the tubes are in the oven's

lid, which gets moved around a lot. I think there's a lot more

potential for breakage with a Flavorwave than with similarly designed

ovens that use conventional resistance heaters.
