Guest guest
hehe I've been all through the raise everything yourself and it wore me out. Take the chickens. Here we have about 200 hens. They run free if they like as the fence has many, many chicken sized holes and others can fly right over. Even with all the " eating out " we go through about 350 pounds of grain in 7-10 days. To raise that many worms, insects, etc would require a lot of veggie matter. I would spend my days running around to stores trying to talk them out of any rotting fruit and vegetables their customers wouldn't buy. But wait! What about the goats or hogs or the cows.... If I'm out rounding up chicken feed who'd take care of them? And the egg deliveries...And the slaughtering and Larry's lunch <G> Guess it's kinda like buying your eggs instead of raising chickens in the living room of your condo. Can we tell who's the humbug this season? Belinda > > > > I often wonder why people in dry climates don't just breed insects > and worms > > to feed their chickens?
