i've never had to deal with the huge ones you are talking about, but

diatomaceous earth and these non-toxic

traps--http://www.seabrightlabs.com/roach.htm--worked really well for me and i

live in an apartment complex that has been very susceptible to infestation.

honestly the diatomaceous earth has been a godsend. i had to deal with a large

bed bug infestation (very disgusting i may add) in a neighbor's apartment that

was creeping into my own and i have to say, it virtually cured it where the

exterminator treatments couldn't. i even think that if i had done just that in

the beginning and nothing else, i could have probably avoided having to do all

the other suggested tricks and endless laundry. the only thing to be careful of

is to apply it in a way that doesn't disperse it into the air because it is not

good to breathe. it lasts forever as long as it stays dry. it is also safe to

put in electrical outlets light switches.

good luck!

sabine.

We used DE with the fire ants we had coming in the house. Took a couple

of weeks but they must have packed up and left our area or it killed the

hive because they left! =)

They were coming in the bathroom and kitchen for water as we had a

drought this summer.
