Guest guest
Hi Sharon, my neck pain has been horrendous. I think I may have recently herniated (torn) a disc in my neck. It has left me nauseous and dizzy. I take Lortab and Robaxin. e > > > > is there any one out there who has chronic neck pain, i sure would like to hear from them. >
Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I also have chronic neck pain (and chronic back pain). My new pain doctor diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia as the cause, and put me on Lortabs. He also put me on Robaxin, but I can't take it during the day because it makes me too sleepy to function, so I just take it at night occassionally. I am also taking tizanidine and nabumetone for all of my muscular pain, plus Neurontin (gabapentin) for pain from nerve damage. I also take Effexor XR, which is an SSNRI like to Savella, Cymbalta, and Lyrica, except Effexor XR has not been shown (yet) to help with pain from Fibromyalgia--although with me, I think that that the Effexor XR might help some, although not as much as Cymbalta did when I was on it almost 2 years ago. I have not (yet) tried Savella or Lyrica, and my pain doctor is reluctant to put me on either of those at this time because I am already on so many other meds which increase serotonin in the brain; if we add another SSRI or SSNRI, then there is a significantly increased risk of me getting serotonin syndrome, which would not be good. I hope this helps some. If you want to talk with me more about my neck (or other) pain, feel free to send me an email on- or off-list, and I will be happy to share. e.h. > ** > > > Hi, there. Guest guest
Hi Sharon and Tom, I'm also suffering with multiple spine conditions which cause pain. It's so frustrating that the degenerative causes just keep getting worse and the pain doesn't ease up. I suppose when nerves are being damaged I will allow a surgeon to try and relieve this before they are permanently damaged, but till then, the pain is stealing my life.  I'm aging faster than I ever expected now that I've reached the age of 56. The degenerative disc disease, ruptured discs and osteoarthritis began in my early 20's. An auto accident really did a number on me in 1991 and before that some pretty rough riding on horses and a couple of bad falls sped up the process. I try not to look to far into the future and enjoy each and every day the best I can. Jennette >Tom wrote: > >I live with chronic neck and back pain. I deal with it every day and night. Guest guest
Good morning all, I have a chronic condition called myelopathy of the cervical spine and several bone spurs touching and also touching the dura matter of the thoracic, lumbar and cervical spine. All of which I can feel when I turn to the wrong side, (smile). I take Lyrica 100 Mg's, Vicodin HP ,10Mg's of vicodin and 660Mg's acetaminophen, I also take about six other medications for different diseases. These medications work well for me. I've been taking the vicodin for several years now and it's potency has waned in the last two years. The lyrica is working fine for the nerve pain. I need something for break through pain and possibly a change in pain killers. I don't know. I see a Neurologist in December. /NY

Guest guest
I also have the chronic neck pain. What do you find to get relief from it? I have been going off and on to physical therapy this year and they can not get me relief that lasts. Now they have me in traction for 20 min and it helps a little. Sick of pain like all of us here. Guest guest
Hi, I get relief from Botox injections in my neck every 90 days and Baclofen. Heat and ice, as well as PT and massotherapy work well. Being in a warm pool helps, too.
Guest guest
Moderator's note: Be sure that your doctor,, and a physical therapist shows you exactly how to use traction. Kaylene I also do traction. I put a wet towel in the microwave then in a trash bag. That works best for me. I still combat the dizziness and nausea. Guest guest
What kind of doctor do you go to in order to see if traction would help? I have my son pull on my left leg and my back feels a ton better. The inversion table helps. Ellen wrote: I also do traction. I put a wet towel in the microwave then in a trash bag. Guest guest
My traction unit was recommended by my physical therapist to my neurosurgeon. However, after researching doctors specialties, I switched to an orthopedic spine specialist. The neurosurgeon wanted to do surgery; the spine specialist himself had back surgery and told me that I am not a good candidate.
