Guest guest
Moderator Note: A rolling knee walker does away for the need for crutches (except on stairs). The can be purchased or rented by the week. Google rolling knee walker and you'll get lots of site hits. ---- Being the exceptionally ungraceful creature that I am, yesterday evening I fell while trying to get out of my husband's bronco (about 3 feet straight down). I landed on the side of my foot and, bingo, broke it. I knew it was broken right away, actually heard and felt the bone snap. By the time we got to the emergency room my foot was sporting what looked like an extra ankle and I couldn't put any weight on it at all. The sharp stabbing shooting pains were excrutiating. The Er doctor was great, gave me a shot of something (probably dilaudid or demerol) before xrays and fitted me with a splint and sent me home with instructions to call a podiatrist and a script for norco. I am currently on extended release morphine sulfate for the degenerative arthritis and fibro/serum negative rheumatoid arthritis. I've never taken norco before but was upfront with the er doc about my meds and chronic conditions so I'm hoping it will be ok. The foot still hurts like the dickens!! my main problem is the crutches. My chronic conditions affect my joints and my wrists are the worst of all and using the crutches is very, very hard on the wrists. I'm open to any ideas on what might help or any advice anyone might have. and, of course, it's my right foot so I can't drive, therefore can't help my parents with their appointments, shopping, chores, etc. no good at all. I am such a klutz! a very frustrated, pain-ridden, bed-bound klutz at the moment. grrrrr. Gentle hugs to all Chelsea
