Guest guest
Sorry I sent that reply by accident. It seems I do this all the time lately. Thanks for replying to my email about Prialt. Why did you have to stop your pain medication before you started the Prialt? Everything I have read they decrease the narcotic drugs as they increase the Prialt. I have had 6 surgeries with bad results. I have arachnoiditis and a lot of scarring from all the insult if surgery. I just had a laminectomy about 6 months and the surgeon had to cut the catheter to my intrathecal pump which sent me into withdwrawals. I was in ICU for 4 days while my doctors tried to help with the withdrawals. Because the drugs were delivered intrathecally they had to use a ton of IV drugs to even come close to the dose of drugs going through my pump. In the mean time the surgeon was deciding whether to reconnect the pump. After my family and doctors convinces him that I needed the pump he went back in and reattached the catheter. After I had some relief from it, but other areas of previous surgeries became extremely painful and now I can't walk because of pain in my right leg. More surgeries are being talked of by my doctors to see if that can give me more relief. But my pain Management doctor wants to try the Prialt. I'm very frightened of the side affects. Right now he is contacting my insurance to see if they will cover it. I am just not sure. I would love to hear more from you as you continue on the drug - if that's ok with you. Thank you! I have been up to 300 on fentenyl patches and all the Morphine I could take, to no avail. I am Opiate free. Coming off all the pain meds was hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Looking back, it was worth the effort. Right now my pain level is a constant 7 with a 9 thrown in for good measure. I hope the Prialt works soon, other wise I will be going back on opiates All, Here is a website for a interesting article about Prialt made from sea snail. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/5165124.stm The sea snail paralyzes other fish with its bite, thus the small dosage of another line of neurotoxins. Hope it proves to be good. It has been studied over twenty plus years. I cannot afford scarring from an implantable device or neurotransimitter. I wish the best for everyone who finds their relief. Opoids are the safest choice for me. Just realize that being in uncontrolled pain damages organs and body systems and there have been long term studies that support opiates are safe for usage in pain. All pain patients should be administered a multi modual program to include physical theraphy, alternative therapies (biofeedvack, others), water therapy, stretches, counsdling not one is a good pain management program and supported by Amrian Pain Society and WHO (World Health Organization). My bloood pressssure goes to 230/105 and without pain treatment I would have a stroke and have had mini strokes before. So, because I used to have a high pain threshold and if I could be pain free withouth medicationsl I would not need maybe I would be more of a " person " . I look at it as if as diabetics who need insulin. To justify over thirty years of opoid use, One of the most interestesting articles about a famous person, was labeled a druggie, but was in a bad airplane accident and Dr Forest Tenent, well known Pain Physician was asked to do a autopsy. One main determination was that he was not an addict was under pseudiaddiction, whereas he needs to get out of pain and he also had no organ damage as was rumored. This article is used to show Opoid therapy is not a destructive theraapy.' pain-topics.org/pdf/Pseudoaddict.pdf : Another good site: http://www.practicalpainmanagement.com/treatments Also aten year study on opoids : http://tinyurl.com/46r22pz Bennie

Everything I have read they decrease the narcotic drugs as they increase the Prialt. , I am sorry that happened to you and hope you try a myofascial physical therapist when you can to help with scar tissue and cramping. My scarring from repeated epidurals, procedures, and surgery caused me permanent pain in rt hip and leg also have Sacral Illiac, piriformis syndrome and sciatica. A good physical therapist can pinpoint this. Good Luck and let us know how you are. The pain therapist I had before would take three days to place a patient in a low induced type coma (not as bad as it sounds) to help people of drugs. He said the hardest addiction to treat was smoking so I respect any one has quit. Bennie
