My shoulder was throbbing in pain around 3am...I think from driving so long

too go see my dad, 76. He is, by far, in better shape than I.

I started to half the Robaxin/muscle relaxer as it makes me dizzy and

nauseous, even with a meal. Flexerill stopped working for me.

Any suggestions for a better muscle relaxer?

Zanaflex (tizanitidine) works wonders for both me and my wife. When

you first start, it can make you pretty sleepy, so be careful and ask

your doctor to have you taper the dose up slowly.

I use this also, mostly during bedtime but if I feel painful when I wake up

I will take one.

I am up to 3 ,Tizanidine 4mg tablets, at night and one in the morning if

needed and one in the afternoon.

I also take 2 5mg tablets of Melatonin and 1 1mg of Lorazepam at night to

help me sleep. I try to read a Chapter of a book and in about 15 min my eyes

end up burning so I put my book down and fall asleep.

I am only allowed 5 Tizanidine Max a day though, wasn't told why.

and I just found out that my insurance won't pay for my MRI for my brain

tumor or to go see my neurologist when she moved away, now she is back. Both

doctors the neuro-oncologist and my neurologist are at Marshfield clinic and

my Cigna denied them. So I don't know what I am going to do about my

appointment on Nov 3 since I know that MRI is going to be a good $4000.00

for that alone.

I think I mixed Trazodone and a lorazepam one time but couldn't move in

the morning. I could talk to my kids about them going to school but couldn't

move it was weird. And I got major constipation from it.

I wish I could help you more.

I just found out my long term disability benefits ended abruptly. I am

considering a different medical plan as a result. You may want to consider a

short term policy to help offset the cost of that MRI.

Also www.modestneeds.org reviews grant requests regardless of income.

There's also an advocacy center for co pays. I don't recall the name, but if you

go to www.Allsup.com and click on Resources, you will find how to contact the co

pay foundation. There are also medicines that can be obtained for free.

I hope to win the lottery one day to set up a foundation to help people like us.

Ellen,

I take tiazadine (xanaflex) 4mg and it helps a lot but is short acting. Soma was

also prescribed for me and both do not make me dizzy and I am not sedated so as

much as with flexirl and Robaxin.

Look them up on the internet and check if the side effects or contraindications

apply to you. Hope they work and they are on the formularies and maybe you can

get them cheap.

Here is the Walmart four dollar formulary, it had a couple medications I take

and I am going to transfer them over, I pay twenty one dollars for my thyroid

medication and they finally with a form set it at the three dollar we pay. Our

pharmacy rates went up for five dollars for generics and ten dollars for brand.

They charge twenty one dollars for medications off the formulary.

I believe that this is still good rates as when we were on a HMO the

prescriptions were twenty five and thirty dollars even if the prescription cost

was less . I got us off this so fast, my husband signed up with it as he thought

it was a good hospital, and White but they made us travel forty-five miles

for lab and MRI's and other radiological testing even though there are

facilities closer.

Here is the list for pain from Walmart and I take the etodolac ER 400 mg and it

is anti inflammatory and really helps. It has the tizadine 2 mg which is a

muscle relaxant so these are four dollars for thirty day supply and ninety day

supply is ten dollars.

Targets has the same program. I think I will set this up at Walmart and they

also mail them out.

Medication for pain at Walmart and Targets:

ALLOPURINOL 100MG, 300MG TABLETS BACLOFEN 10MG TABS CHLORZOXAZONE 500MG TABS

CYCLOBENZAPRINE 5MG, 10MG TABS DICLOFENAC POTASSIUM 50MG TABS ETODOLAC ER 400

TABS

IBUPROFEN 100MG/5ML ORAL SUSP IBUPROFEN 400MG TABS IBUPROFEN 600MG, 800MG TABS

INDOMETHACIN 25MG CAPS INDOMETHACIN 50MG CAPS LIDOCAINE VISCOUS 2% ORAL SOL

100ML MELOXICAM 7.5MG, 15MG TABS NAPROXEN 250MG, 375MG, 500MG TABS NAPROXEN

SODIUM 275MG, 550MG TABS PIROXICAM 10MG CAPS

PIROXICAM 20MG CAPS TIZANIDINE 2MG TABS

I also found a discount program that gives you coupons for your medication and

my pharmacy honors them so I am printing them out for all my medications. Some

are seventy five per cents off.
