Guest guest
I've been planning a fast again this year but no concrete plans on when to start yet. The discussion here has reminded me of something I've been wanting to do which is to get blood tests before and after a fast and see what changes. I'm thinking of looking at cholesterol, some sort of insulin resistance marker (is there such a thing?), iron and copper levels (copper levels go up with disease - from cancer to a cold). Also maybe a blood count, or test for autoimmune markers, because that may be interesting. But I don't know much about medical testing. Any suggestions are welcome. Please nothing too expensive, tho because I'm guessing some of this may come out of pocket. Anybody else want to do it too and we can compare results? Guest guest
What kind of fast are you planning and will you be exercising during the fast? Guest guest
I wanted to start today - three days of eating raw and then maybe 15 days of juice fasting followed by at least 3 days of eating raw again (with broth too). But I just got a whopper of food poisoning or the flu or something so I'm going to see what develops, it's pushed back what I wanted to do, plus when I went in to the MD she refused to do the blood work I wanted because I had not scheduled for a " physical " - I tried but the non-English speaking receptionist couldn't figure out what I was talking about! I hate that office! At least it's easy to not eat - it's about the furthest thing from my mind just now. I do plan on doing moderate exercise - jumping on the trampoline with the kids and walking. Dh is doing it with me and he plans to run if he's able (he's never fasted before). > > I've been planning a fast again this year but no concrete plans on when > > to start yet. Guest guest
Hi, This is my first posting here... I joined this list last week. I am willing to join with you. I started a fast - the Master Cleanse - today. It so happens that I just had a bunch of blood work done 1 1/2 weeks ago - trouble controlling my blood pressure prompted me to go to the doc and had all this work done. I am not sure how I will get him to redo it when I am done, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I am planning on being on this cleanse for 21 days, then go on raw for a time after that until my health is restored, then eat smart - not SAD - for the rest of my days! a

I just googled it and saw that 1-14 days could be done, but you say you are on 19 days. Wow! -- " Forget about reading Austrian Economics. In fact, forget about reading in general. I finally realize what is the fastest, surest way to learn real economics: it's listening to NPR (National Public Radio). All you have to do is realize that EVERY SINGLE THING their radio hosts and guests say about economics is 100% FALSE--then you'll automatically learn what are real economic truths.
