Guest guest
Marta: I have had an SCS(spinal cord stinulator) and there is nothing to fear. I wore long lounging gowns to cover the wires leading from my spine. The control can be hooked to your clothes. Your back will be taped over good where the leads go into your spine. I caught my wires on my sock and it did not jerck out.(LOL) During your trial the SCS will be very positional, just turning your head will change the stimylation....this is normal. The permanent implant is not as positional. Get yourself a reacher/grabber to pick up anything you may drop. NO BTR....bending, twisting or reaching amd no lifting. Do not lay down with the stimulator going full blast. Turn it almost off and you will still feel it when you lay down. I forgot and lay down with mine on and almost blasted to top of my head off.LOL I never forgot again. Turn off the stimulator once in a while so you can tell how much it is helping. When you have the trial surgery you will be asleep but they will wake you enough to tell them if you feel the stimulation in the right place. If you do not tingle in the right place tell them so they can keep adjusting it until they get it right. I was in hospital overnight for my permanent implant but went home the same day they placed my trial lead in. BTW...I sleep on my back and was able to still sleep on my back during my trial and permanent implant. Some people can't take the constant tingling but others love it. As long as the stimulator is on you will tingle where the pain is. Alas...the stimulator did not work for me. All I felt was tingling on top of my pain. Not a good feeling at all. I now have a pain pump implant and NO PAIN now at all!! If you have ant qustions feel free to ask. Patsy > I had my meeting with the " injections Pain Management doctor " Tuesday and he agreed to do the lumbar sympathetic block. YEAH me. > ly, I'm scared. I'll probably be in the hospital overnight, due to the fact that I live over an hour away from the surgeon. And I have to get three new sets of King size sheets to keep the bed as sterile as possible. The aftermath of the surgery scared the poo out of me, so any information is welcomed. > > Marta >
