Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I'm married to a resp therapist, have 2 kids with asthma and about 15% of my patient population has asthma. the cough you're describing is typical for about 30% of asthmatics. when i try to get a family history of asthma, i don't ask about asthma (we only finally started calling people asthmatics in the mid 80's), but rather, i ask if there's anyone in the family that got frequent bronchitis, pneumonia or croup when they were kids, esp between the fall and spring (hits the weather-sensitive, allergy-triggered, and infection-triggered people). my son rhys doesn't have asthma and for 2 winters in a row had a pertussis-like cough that lasted for about 9 weeks (we had tests for pertussis which came back negative as well as tests for the " pertussis-like " infections). i'm not going to get into the vaccine issue publically as it's beyond the scope of this list and should be discussed with your individual docs. all my kids, including rhys, have had all vaccinations without any difficulty whatsoever. ken www.rivendell-peds.com/hirsch ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
