Guest guest
Hi Randy Hello To everybody, Hi I have belonged to this group now for a number of years and I am hoping someone who maybe has been through this can help me. I am single, not by choice, and I live alone. I no longer can work due to Pain from my 7 back surgeries. I don't have a Pet, because i would have a dog but I am not able to walk it. And then finally most of my friends have little kids and are busy with there families. I don't really have any friends left anyways, I lost much of them when i was going through my 4 year ordeal. The problem I have now is I am lonely and have a ton of time of my hands. I play guitar and have for years, so that hobby takes up some time. But, i wake up and wonder what I am going to do for the day and my weekends suck. The one idea i thought of was to try to volunteer somewhere like maybe the hospital by me. But there's not a lot there for me to do, right now at least. So Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? I sure many people have been or are in my situation and might have some ideas from there travels. I am scared I am loosing a lot of my social skills plus I like being around people. I live somewhat isolated and dont want too but, feel kind of restricted from my disability. Thank God for this group, I a have tried to Find a support group by me for years with no luck. So this group has been real helpful and I thought maybe they might have some ideas for me. Thanks for listening. randy Hi Randy It's too bad you don't like, or are allergic to cats, because they can be such wonderful companions. Do you play to guitar well enough to give lessons? That might fill up your time a bit. You could give beginning lessons to adults and charge a small fee. Have you tried finding a yahoo group that enjoys music, or anything other than pain you enjoy talking about? I met my husband in an AOL chat room 12 years ago. It was a fun group, we just talked about anything and everything. The members played various trivia games etc. Now with Skype, you can actually see someone and talk to them. If you enjoy politics, many of them need help having people calling folks on the phone for surveys etc. I love to read and watch old TV shows, and movies so I go to the library, of buy books from half.com, and get DVD's from Netflix. That's all I can think of, good luck. Write to use and tell us how you are doing. We care about you. Kaylene

Guest guest
Randy, I don't know if you have any kind of faith you practice, but most churches have some kinds of social groups that you might join. The one I participate in knows my medical issues and if I can come, I do and if not, there's no pressure. They are great people and at least I have that to look forward to once a week. Guest guest
Where I live, there are non denominational caregiver support groups and they come by your house and help you with the needs you identify that they can. Friendship, cleaning, transportation requests, lawn care help etc. If it's available where you live, you can call 211 which is a local directory number and they can let you know of groups in your area. There are also some specific support groups that target issues you might experience. Depression, medical conditions, Positive Reinforcement and others.
