I went to this site today and spent time checking it out. It is quite

interesting. I am wondering if anyone in this group follows a similar

way of eating: No grains really ever, high good fats, veggies, some

fruit...all in all a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet. I would

just like to hear some feedback from members who have found success

eating this way. I have done it in the past but always end up eating

grains again and am trying to stray away from this pattern.

I love adequate protein, high fat, and low carb. I use starchy veg for

my carb and not so much fruit. Grains are such a pain to process that I

end up avoiding them, and this happened naturally. Who wants to soak

days ahead when you can steam a veg right now.

yep, this is the way i eat. have been for about 9 months or so. i love it. and

the more i read about grains the more i want to avoid them entirely. i eat very

little fruit--maybe just some berries in a smoothie that i cook first. i eat

mostly potatoes for my carbs loaded with fats. grains and low fat actually make

me ill now and i only feel good when i have lots of fat in what i am eating.

I rarely eat grains. I will eat them if properly prepared but that is

very rare since I don't have much time to give to the process. So

unless I buy something already properly prepared or cook some milled

rice, its not happening. Generally on Sundays throughout the year I

have a really tiny piece of white wheat bread soaked in wine, which a

few years back someone posted something about how that makes the wheat

far less problematic, if at all, a form of preparation so to speak.

I'm essentially no grains but not necessarily low carb. Being low carb

and being no grain are not equivalent. About 1/3 of the year I'm low

or no carb, 1/3 of the year moderate carb, and 1/3 of the year high

carb, although my moderate carb looks a lot like what Mark at The

Daily Apple calls low carb. The protein and fat ratios will vary

depending on the time of the year, ranging from high fat to low fat,

and from moderate protein to low protein.

My carbs come mostly from dairy, beer, wine, root vegetables, and some

seasonal fruit during the summer. I would say there are only two

things about my diet that never really change - it is always high in

saturated fat (even when I'm eating low fat) and rarely features

grains.

I like Mark's diet, although it has always appeared to me to be a

little high in PUFA. I could be wrong though since I have never seen a

breakdown of the specific percentages of his diet.
