Scary stuff!!! > ------------------------- The thing to keep in mind is not that Buchman and his groupies were actual Nazis, but that they admired totalitarian governments because they so strongly believed that no one should have any individuality or " self-will " , due to their odd belief in the concept of " God-control " . This is what still unites AA and Moral Re-Armament -- the notion that " spiritually enlightened " people have a direct hotline to the Almighty, and continually submerge their own (inferior) thoughts and desires in favor of " doing God's will " . In this frightening worldview, those that are deemed " enlightened " (by WHOM??) have the absolute right and indeed obligation to advise and rule over the " un-enlightened " (their sponsees?). This is an earlier Buchman quote: " The secret is God-control. The only sane people in an insane world are those controlled by God... The true patriot gives his life to bring his nation under God's control... " Despite many AA'ers and NA'ers' insistence that the " insanity " referred to in the second step is the purported " insanity " of continual destructive drug/alcohol use, the historical background shows that the word " insane " was used quite often and freely by the Buchmanites (Oxford Groupers) as meaning anyone who was not yet " enlightened " and under " God-control " . In fact, anyone who questioned any OG doctrine (quesioning the Word of God??), or indeed anyone who seemed too intellectually inclined at all, was labeled " insane " by the Oxford Groupers. This is also the enduring OG legacy in AA -- the overt and covert anti-intellectualism, and discouragement of questioning or analyzing any 12-step credos. ( " Utilize, Don't Analyze!
