Grinder tool advice

Just wanted to share - After buying a knock-off grain mill, and a good

quality sausage grinder, I have learned the difference. I'm also

realizing what a valuable tool a sausage grinder is for the home cook

who wants to make the most of locally available (like from the back

yard) meats. The option to grind a cut that didn't turn out quite as

expected is invaluable!

I fortunately read many reviews before buying my sausage grinder and

the consensus is that the only brand to consider is Porkert, and even

then you have to watch out because a factory in China is making a knock-

off and selling it as the real thing. My knock-off grain mill won't

stay attached to the surface so we have to keep re-tightening it. The

parts don't fit together very well, and you can't take the front plate

off to clean out the wedged in grains that didn't make it out. It does

the job, but now I wish I'd spent the extra $10 or $20 for the real

thing. Evidently the knock-off sausage grinders are sometimes so badly

made they don't even do the job well. And who wants old meat stuck in

cracks where you can't get it out? (I don't work for Porkert, I just

realize the value of a good product!)
