I see that NT recommends Sal Suds for the washing of produce.

I looked on the bottle and I see that it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.

Of course I also see that NT recommends chlorine for the washing of produce,

which makes me SHUDDER.

Should I be shuddering about the SLS in Sal Suds?

I wrote to the Dr. Bronner company and they wrote me a long letter explaining

why the whole SLS-bashing-thing is basically a farce.

Can anyone comment on the safety of using SLS (or at least Sal Suds)?

Thanks,

Tamara

there are lots of safer products out there at stores (like whole foods) that

sell sulfate free cleaners.....sulfates are made from salts they are a detergent

laryth being worse than lauryl but they are not necessary any more they can make

things lather from coconut or palm oils (they are just more expensive)....my

advise stay away from sulfates bad news the jury is still out about them causing

cancer not to mention they are listed as a carcinogen. they are also in wine

beer and a lot of dried fruits so watch out if you drink...so yeah you should

shutter...stay away from them!
