Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I saw my Dr a month ago. I have severe pain in my left knee and right ankle. I called my Dr. and the girl at the front desk saying she don't think I can have more pain med. Dang that girl is an a@@hole. She always saying no to me. I called my case manager and explain I need the pain med and the girl at the Dr's office don't think I can get more pain med. I constantly in pain and told the case manager if he refuse I don't want him to do the surgery. I'm tired the Dr. don't see things in my perspective and won't authorize someone to help me clean my apartment (2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms). I have to have surgery on my right ankle (the 3rd time) and the Dr. will straighten my foot and then fused it where the leg and the ankle meet. I wont' be have it until Jan my Mom need my help and will have surgery on her eyes (cataracts). What should I do tired of fighting with this stupid Dr. I called the Dr's office today and he refuse to give me pain medicine. I really pissed off. I need it and told the girl that he refuse then I will find another Dr. This is ridiculous. He think I can handle the pain and do the cleaning. Geez an idiot. Any feedback will be appreciated. \ Christa
Guest guest
Best advice I have seen that works is to camp out on his doorstep. It sounds excruciating. I cannot imagine. The front desk person is just a gatekeeper. I wouldn't pay her any attention. Just ignore her and speak to the doc directly. If he is your best bet to get meds, threatening to leave wont phase him. Camp out and let him see your pain. Why don't you want to have surgery? Is it because you worry he wont give you adequate pain med afterwards? Tell him exactly why you're frustrated and let him see your eyes. The phone is an easy place for cowards to hide. Just my $.02. Guest guest
why would a doctors's receptionist make pain management decisions and give medical advice? no one should play god with someone's pain, unless we abuse the medication. sounds like it's time to get a new doctor. rickwagonheim > Hi Everyone, > > I saw my Dr a month ago. Guest guest
Has the doctor himself told you no pain med? Are you on something now and it is not working? You mentioned upcoming surgery. I hope this doctor is not avoiding pain meds because he is afraid with the pain controlled you will put off the surgery. If he has said no pain meds, I would ask him for an explaination. Keep a pain log including frequency of pain, type of pain, what makes it worse, what helps, how far you can walk before stopping, etc There are nonnarcotic pain meds. I don't understand why he would refuse giving any meds. Do you have a past history of substance abuse? The can make doctors leary about prescribing pain med. If things get really back, go to the ER. Then you have documentation of having high level of pain. Let us know how you make out with the medication. Huge gentle hugs, Tami --- Christa Dondero wrote: > > I saw my Dr a month ago. Guest guest
Hi Christa If this doctor is not a pain management doctor I doubt you are going to get any pain medication from him. Jennette
