Guest guest
Tamara, You might try contacting Homestead Heritage at: http://www.homesteadheritage.com/contact_us.html I know that they make and sell cheese products from grass-fed cows, but I don't know if they ship it. The Web site doesn't mention their milk products. Kathy From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Tamara Sent: Friday, March 20, 2009 1:07 PM Subject: seeking quality grass-fed raw parmesan cheese Hi all, My 2-yr-old DD LOVES parmesan cheese; it's the only cheese she will eat. But the best I can find is Organic Valley organic parmesan. I'm not convinced this has the optimal nutrition she needs (she has cavities so I'm focused on maximizing her nutrition, especially since she does not have a very big appetite). Since all of my local sources for grass-fed do not carry this or any other kind of aged hard cheese, I thought perhaps mail-order. But I can't even seem to find anything online. Have any of you found a good source that you trust? If so, please do share! -Tamara

You should be able to find it at Whole Foods. According to the link page below: " Parmigiano-Reggiano is made from raw cow's milk. " " Traditionally, cows have to be fed only on grass or hay, producing grass fed milk. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parmesan
Guest guest
Thanks for the info; I will keep this as a last resort. Even though it was made with grass-fed milk TRADITIONALLY, I doubt that is so in our modern times. At least I don't trust it anywhere near as much as I would trust my local raw milk farmer. I do appreciate the extra knowledge about Parmigiano Reggiano though! I did not know why it was considered so " supreme. " -Tamara > > See if you can locate some Parmigiano Reggiano.
