I just love, love, love my Sleep Number bed, I have 6 herniated discs in my

lower back and suffer through the pain daily.

The good thing about the Sleep Number is that depending on how your back is

feeling on any given day, you can adjust the settings of the bed to make it

firmer or softer. The cost to buy one isn't too bad, I actually spent more on a

traditional mattress before I got my Sleep Number. I will never go back to a

regular mattress again, when the time comes to get a new one, I will buy another

Sleep Number

I know 2 people who have the Tempurpedic bed, one with a bad back and one

without, both loved the bed for the first month or so and now neither one of

them like it but don't want to replace it because of the cost to buy it.

Good Luck in finding a bed that works for you. As all of us are different, we

So hard to decide - both the TempurPedic and the Sleep Number have lots of fans.

I know that the TempurPedic has a trial period after which you can

return it for a refund (but you're stuck with the shipping charges to

send it back, which is only fair, I believe). Does Sleep Number have a similar

trial period?

I hate to take out a mortgage to buy one of these things and then get

stuck with something that doesn't work.

Sleep Number does had a trial period, I copied this from their website:

* If you are not completely satisfied after sleeping on your bed for a full 30

nights, simply call us toll-free within 45 days of delivery to authorize its

return. Upon receipt, we'll reimburse the full purchase price less your shipping

or Home Delivery and Setup fees. You pay return shipping. There are no returns

or exchanges on the FlexFit� adjustable bases or demo bed models.

Not quite the 90 day you get with Tempurpedic, but Sleep Number is 1/2 to 1/3

the cost (depending on which model you get).

Some malls have sleep number stores where you can try them out.

About the trial periods, from what I've read, they will do anything they can to

prevent you from returning them. Even the smallest stain will force you to keep

it.

If you want to avoid a home equity loan...

I bought a high density memory foam mattress topper at jiggle while it was on

sale (60% or 80% off) and I had one of their 30% off coupons. When I first tried

it on top of my regular mattress, it was too soft, so I put it on the floor to

see if that would help, it did. Since I didn't want to sleep on the floor, I put

the topper on top off my box spring and got rid of the mattress.

By the way, Kohls has an AMAZING return policy!

If you find them on sale and have a 30% of coupon, you could purchase a couple

different densities and return all but your favorite.

Go to a Scandic Hotel in Denmark. The beds have piles of fluffy things made of

down that make you feel like you are sinking into a cloud. Best night's sleep

imaginable.

I know, we can't just go there so we can sleep. We can barely go anywhere, but

that is one of my best memories of my trip!

They both are so cumbersome that they depend on you not wanting to break them

down and send them back <smile> That is why I laid on them at the store for at

least thirty minutes on different models as you can't have trial periods on all

Bet it was a feather bed, my girlfriend had one and I loved spending the night

with her. Not good for me as you have to change them out often. Bennie

Yes, it probably was a feather bed. It was so wonderful. We bought a feather bed

cover after that and it was great, but they do mat down fast.

Regarding sleeping in a recliner. My mom has slept in a Laz-y-boy recliner for

at least 10 years. She now has scoliosis and severe osteoporosis, having gone

from 5'9 to 5'3. (she is 82.) I can't help but think sleeping in the chair added

to this problem. So be careful doing this, guys!
