I've taken methotrexate (MTX) for almost 20 years now. In the beginning, I was

on the tablets, and I experienced nausea and a bit of a rash, as well as mouth

sores. The mouth sores were quickly taken care of with the addition of 5mg. per

day of folic acid.

Because the nausea was still a problem after a year, I was given a prescription

of the injectable MTX, and it works very well for me. In fact, I have almost no

side effects at all from it.

I also find that, with both the tablets and the injectable, it's best to take

your dose at night before bed. I tend to have slight 'flu symptoms for about 24

hours after I take the MTX and have little energy. Taking the dose at night

eliminates about half of the 'flu feelings because you sleep through the worst

of it.

It took about a month for the MTX to 'kick in' initially, but when it did, I was

amazed at how much better I felt generally.

Hope this helps!

Cloverskies,

I was taking Methotrexate and I didn't have any side effect maybe

drowiness but no other one.  If you feel sick stop taking it and call your

Dr.  It take a few weeks for it to get in your system. Work great for  RA pain

for me.  Good luck!
